They created the Artwalk to beautify the abandoned buildings in downtown and celebrate local artists. This one's for anyone who wants to close their eyes and dream of sitting on the beach.... YOU WILL NEED - Coconut flavoured rum - we use Koko Kanu. It's a tropical addition to this cocktail but also great to sip on ice for a sweet rummy treat... - Any white or dark rum (we like dark for its rich, caramelly flavour but white works too) - Pineapple juice - Coconut milk - just from the tin is fine! Make sure you give it a good stir. If you don't have any you can swap this out for milk or cream. - Optional - coconut syrup METHOD Makes 1 cocktail - Fill your glass with ice - Add 20ml of Coconut flavoured rum - Add 20ml of your choice of rum - Add 50ml coconut milk - Top with 50ml of pineapple juice - If you have coconut syrup, add a dash now - it makes the cocktail a little bit sweeter and even more flavoursome Give it a good stir and ENJOY! Tiny pieces of red coral mix with regular sand to turn it totally pink! From Horseshoe Bay Beach in Bermuda to Crane Beach in Barbados... and plenty of others in between!... In loving memory From "Bam Bam" to "Pressure Drop" today we are looking at Toots Hibbert ground-breaking career, that lasted six decades but will live forever. If you don't know the name, you will definitely recognize his songs and his unique vocals that evoke laughter, joy, pain and tenderness, all in a single melody.... Toots reached across generations and colour lines, with his not very political and simple lyrics, yet emotional, telling stories of life in Jamaica. His personal recording studio, dubbed by Hibbert himself "The Reggae Centre" is where most of the songs from his latest album "Got To Be Tough" were made. Hibbert moved to Kingston as a teenager, where he turned the elegant hymns learned in church into a new Black music that spoke for Jamaica's underclass. A Kalinago Territory With its volcanic peaks rapid streams... tropical forests and rocky coastlines, it's no wonder that this little corner of paradise has been nicknamed "Nature Island", but did you know that Dominica is the only country in the Caribbean with the honour to host the last descendants of the Kalinago People, said to date back as early as 1000B.C.? As skilled craftspeople, the Kalinagos were used to making canoes dug out of huge trees, weaving baskets, but also excelled in cassava bread and flour making. They were renowned for their huge knowledge of plants. Ingredients like Moringa, dandelion, basil and some 300 other herbs are still used in what is today called "bush medicine". Traditions are kept alive by the elders of the community, with a beautiful tale of the birth of the Carib nation, which involves the moon and hummingbirds. They pass on traditions through storytelling accompanied by dances and the beat of the drums.

Happy Independence Day St Vincent & the Grenadines! Originally called "Youloumain" by its native inhabitants, this tropical paradise in the Caribbean is made of a string of 30+ islands! Saint Vincent and the Grenadines were the last Caribbean islands to be colonized as the native Caribs, the original inhabitants, had sufficient force to hold the intruders and protect their beloved land. ... Prior to this, formerly enslaved Africans, who had either been shipwrecked or who had escaped from Barbados, Saint Lucia and Grenada found refuge in mainland Saint Vincent, married with the Caribs and became known as Black Caribs. Today this beautiful country grows bananas, sweet potatoes, coconuts and spices; they also rear cattle and catch fish and their national dish is Fried Jackfish and Breadfruit!

Born in Jamaica, Stuart Hall travelled to Britain as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, we know him for his academic credentials. Possibly the most significant figure on the British intellectual scene in the last 50 years, he was instrumental in creating the idea of multiculturalism: "a respect and empathy for different identities within the bounds of nationality". Hall went on to be the director of the Birmingham Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies (the first cultural studies department at Birmingham) and Professor of Sociology at the Open University.
