We want to thank everyone for all of the enthusiasm expressed about coming back to moto-i as we rejoin the hospitality industry during these unparalleled times for us all. We appreciate your support and would like to take a moment to share our ongoing outlook with you. We want to apologize to those who were eager for us to reopen by now, our intention was not to let you down over what you have come to know and expect from us. As we were in the final stages of re-opening our r...estaurant for take-out, our community was rocked with the horror of George Floyd’s death. In the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak, our company had already been in a deep state of reflection and adaptation to ensure our re-opening would guarantee stability and comfort for everyone. But what was initially our focus immediately became an impossible undertaking for our entire team. As members of a community, rightfully shaken to the core, we couldn’t simply proceed with ‘business as usual’. We wanted to take time to show up for the people who have always shown up for us and to stand for what we believe in. The story of food connects us through history and culture, and now more than ever we want to be with all of you to share that relationship. Our hearts are heavy as we join our community mourning the lives of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and the countless black lives lost to racism and systemic oppression in our country. There may never be a ‘right time’ to start operating our business again, but we know for certain there is a right time to start doing better. The hospitality industry has a responsibility to fight for positive social change, and we’re eager to be better involved. moto-i will re-open for take-out and delivery starting Wednesday, June 10th, and we will re-open for patio dining on June 17th. With the ease of restrictions this week, we are still working out the details of what the full scope of dining-in at moto-i will look like-- stay tuned for further updates coming soon. For the rest of June, moto-i will be donating 50% of all sake bottle to-go sales to Black Visions Collective, so make sure to take a bottle home with you!
